Grant Application Assignment

Page history last edited by Scott Walters 3 yrs ago

Foundation Grant Application -- Each student will write a grant application for funding for their own theatre. Included in the application must be a proposed 3-play season, an Artistic Director, a Resident Playwright, and at least two other artists (actors, designers, etc.).

GRANT PROPOSAL FORMAT

Summary

At the beginning of your proposal write a two- or three-sentence summary of the proposal. This summary helps the reader follow your argument in the proposal itself. For example:

"Walters Traveling Sound and Light Show requests $100,000 for a one-year season consisting of three plays. We are committed to the presentation of socially-relevant plays that show the effects of economic and social factors on personal decision-making. We request this money as a starting point for the development of a permanent ensemble that will reside in a non-urban community."

Organization Information

In two or three paragraphs, tell the funder about your organization and why it can be trusted to use funds effectively. Name the members of your organization, and why their track record would lead the funders to expect success. State your mission, whom you anticipate serving and your track record of achievement. Add other details that build the credibility of your group.

Describe Your Season

Clearly describe your productions. Describe why you chose them, how they relate to each other, and how they connect to your mission statement.

Make Your Argument

Describe why this theatre is important to an audience in 2006. What does your season have to contribute to the world today? What do these plays and these artists have to offer to your audience and/or to the theatre world?

Due Date: Monday, December 4th by classtime.

Format: Submit as an electronic file via email to swalters@unca.edu. Name the file with your last name: “WaltersGrant” and put your name in the header of your paper.
